From finding a therapist to scheduling sessions, we try to make things as simple as possible.
Sometimes we get overwhelmed, frustrated, and scared. We struggle with believing that we're good enough and lovable. We work everyday to accept these parts of ourselves because we've tried for many years to cover up or resist these feelings and thoughts, and it didn’t work.
The truth is, our brains are wired a certain way in order to protect us and we have no control over it. So we created ReLearning Human to provide a safe space to explore the "why” behind our reactivity and wiring. A space to practice awareness of body sensations and patterns of the mind and to approach our feelings with compassion.
We're here to normalize the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that come with being human.
Humans first. Therapists second.
Feeling alone in your relationship? Experiencing stress, anxiety or always overwhelmed with life’s demands? Know that you are not alone.
From the day I was born, no boxes have ever allowed me to fit in and no system fully supported my growth. From a young age, my nervous system was on guard, in survival mode. Many times I hit rock bottom and crawled back up. Even though I've relearned how to cope in healthier ways, it's still a struggle not to revert back to unhealthy coping. Understanding my worth — as a woman, a woman of color, and so many other defining pieces of who I am — continues to be my story. I am relearning and rewriting it every day.
If your goal is to start feeling like an active participant and being an expert in your own life and if you are seeking a safe space to be truly heard, your journey towards this goal can begin now with our therapeutic partnership.
I draw on inspiration from a variety of modalities, theories, and perspectives from Attachment-Based Theory, Emotional Focused Therapy (Couples), Systemic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Based techniques. I am committed to understanding you and your emotions, challenges, and successes from your perspective and how you experience these moments in your life. It is never an easy step to open up your life to a therapist but when you do make the decision, I will welcome you. It is a privilege to take this journey with you.

I spent much of my life fighting against all the "shoulds" and expectations of others. It seemed to me that everyone got the manual on how and who to be and I was the only one who didn't “get it.” I thought that no one would love me unless I fit into this box that everyone else seemingly fit into.
I came to realize that my thoughts and behaviors kept me little, small and unseen. That I cannot control others thoughts, actions, or their doubt or feeling towards me. I can, however, become aware of how these pieces impact me, how these old wounds may become raw again when pressed and how I can best help myself when I feel anxious, angry, scared, and human. Kavita and I created ReLearning Human to provide a space for you to explore your own human experience, whatever that looks like for you.
I provide confidential talk-therapy to adults and parents in a safe and comfortable environment where you will be supported to develop healthy perceptions of yourself, strengthen relationships, and uncover personal barriers to restore a sense of peace. I believe life is a continuous learning process where, with each passing day, we learn more about what we need in order to be the healthiest version of ourselves.
I combine a relational approach and methods of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy to help you address personal obstacles and regain a sense of clarity, acceptance, and direction.

Is anxiety, sadness, stress or grief making it hard for you to be present or experience joy or meaning in your life? Are you struggling to navigate your relationships or career, or suffering with the wounds of new or old trauma?
Maybe you feel the pressures of your responsibilities mounting. Are you dealing with a change in identity or role, such as becoming a parent? Or perhaps the challenges of living with suspected or diagnosed ADHD feels like too much. If any of these sound like you, let’s connect. What you are feeling and experiencing matters.
In our work together, we will build a foundation of trust, empathy and compassion around your unique concerns, goals and strengths. I provide a warm, caring, genuine space for us to start and grow from.
My work is based in anti-oppressive practice and attachment theory, while drawing from personal training and experience in healthcare and community practice settings. I utilize tools and skills from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based practices. All of which are tailored to your own goals, needs and strengths. I consider it an honour and a privilege to accompany you on this path of growth and learning. While you are unique, you are not alone.
I use a non-judgmental, affirmative approach to therapy and draw inspiration from a variety of therapy-methods including narrative therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and emotionally-focused therapy. There is no one size fits all. Together, we will use tools that suit your strengths and needs to explore issues related to self-esteem, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, social inequities, childhood trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and more.
I believe we are creative, holistic beings, who are always learning and growing to best meet our needs from moment to moment. I look forward to embarking on this collaborative journey of learning, healing, and growth as we discover your story together.
The human condition is one of complexity, variation, beauty and difficulty. In our work together we will collaborate and explore your needs, experiences and find ways to best meet your goals. I am dedicated to creating a validating and comfortable space that fosters vulnerability and connection.
In my practice I work within an anti-oppressive, client centered framework that views you as the expert in your own life and experiences. I have extensive training in cross-cultural practice and believe in upholding and respecting cultural needs and perspectives. I am trained and practiced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy.
I believe that therapy should always be a place where we find unconditional acceptance, are held in a positive light, regularly gain insights and reflection, and are free to voice our thoughts and feelings without fearing criticism or shame.
As a therapist, I have experience working with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, anger management, struggles with substance use, relationship challenges, exploration of gender identity and sexuality, and recovery from trauma.
As a BIPOC therapist, I am passionate about making therapy an inclusive space where issues related to immigration, social and cultural oppression, acculturation, gender-based violence and abuse, and identity can be safely explored. I enjoy supporting individuals and couples to identify their goals and needs, to foster greater mindfulness and self-compassion, and to develop tools for coping with difficult emotions, communication, and thought patterns and developing greater trust in themselves.
I draw from mindfulness and somatic-based approaches in my work which include training and studies in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFiT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Focusing, Buddhist psychology, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT) and the Gottman Method for couples.
Additionally, I apprenticed in traditional indigenous healing with plant medicines in the Peruvian Amazon for many years and I am also a long-term practitioner of yoga and meditation. These experiences have provided me with a rich respect for each person’s healing journey and a genuine appreciation for being invited to support clients on their paths.
