Our process

Meet our Team

Feeling alone in your relationship? Experiencing stress, anxiety or always overwhelmed with life’s demands? Know that you are not alone.

From the day I was born, no boxes have ever allowed me to fit in and no system fully supported my growth. From a young age, my nervous system was on guard, in survival mode. Many times I hit rock bottom and crawled back up. Even though I've relearned how to cope in healthier ways, it's still a struggle not to revert back to unhealthy coping. Understanding my worth — as a woman, a woman of color, and so many other defining pieces of who I am — continues to be my story. I am relearning and rewriting it every day.

If your goal is to start feeling like an active participant and being an expert in your own life and if you are seeking a safe space to be truly heard, your journey towards this goal can begin now with our therapeutic partnership.

I draw on inspiration from a variety of modalities, theories, and perspectives from Attachment-Based Theory, Emotional Focused Therapy (Couples), Systemic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness Based techniques. I am committed to understanding you and your emotions, challenges, and successes from your perspective and how you experience these moments in your life. It is never an easy step to open up your life to a therapist but when you do make the decision, I will welcome you. It is a privilege to take this journey with you.

I spent much of my life fighting against all the "shoulds" and expectations of others. It seemed to me that everyone got the manual on how and who to be and I was the only one who didn't “get it.” I thought that no one would love me unless I fit into this box that everyone else seemingly fit into.

I came to realize that my thoughts and behaviors kept me little, small and unseen. That I cannot control others thoughts, actions, or their doubt or feeling towards me. I can, however, become aware of how these pieces impact me, how these old wounds may become raw again when pressed and how I can best help myself when I feel anxious, angry, scared, and human. Kavita and I created ReLearning Human to provide a space for you to explore your own human experience, whatever that looks like for you.

I provide confidential talk-therapy to adults and parents in a safe and comfortable environment where you will be supported to develop healthy perceptions of yourself, strengthen relationships, and uncover personal barriers to restore a sense of peace. I believe life is a continuous learning process where, with each passing day, we learn more about what we need in order to be the healthiest version of ourselves.

I combine a relational approach and methods of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy to help you address personal obstacles and regain a sense of clarity, acceptance, and direction.

Is anxiety, sadness, stress or grief making it hard for you to be present or experience joy or meaning in your life? Are you struggling to navigate your relationships or career, or suffering with the wounds of new or old trauma?

Maybe you feel the pressures of your responsibilities mounting. Are you dealing with a change in identity or role, such as becoming a parent? Or perhaps the challenges of living with suspected or diagnosed ADHD feels like too much. If any of these sound like you, let’s connect. What you are feeling and experiencing matters.

In our work together, we will build a foundation of trust, empathy and compassion around your unique concerns, goals and strengths. I provide a warm, caring, genuine space for us to start and grow from.

My work is based in anti-oppressive practice and attachment theory, while drawing from personal training and experience in healthcare and community practice settings. I utilize tools and skills from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based practices. All of which are tailored to your own goals, needs and strengths. I consider it an honour and a privilege to accompany you on this path of growth and learning. While you are unique, you are not alone.

Accepting new clients

I use a non-judgmental, affirmative approach to therapy and draw inspiration from a variety of therapy-methods including narrative therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and emotionally-focused therapy. There is no one size fits all. Together, we will use tools that suit your strengths and needs to explore issues related to self-esteem, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, social inequities, childhood trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and more.

I believe we are creative, holistic beings, who are always learning and growing to best meet our needs from moment to moment. I look forward to embarking on this collaborative journey of learning, healing, and growth as we discover your story together.

Life is messy, complicated and we do not always have the answers to 'fix' problems or issues.  However, we have the ability to overcome, process, survive and become a better individual, partner and family member. It is this process that enables us to develop the skills, values, and the strength to go on with life. Our stories past, present and future are all relevant to who we are and who we want to become.

I am skilled in trauma-informed approaches and relational interventions to support clients, to hear their past experiences and build healthier connections. Together we can work towards resilience, promoting self-discovery and empowering you to navigate life's challenges with a sense of confidence and well being.

My goal as a therapist is to support clients in developing tools that support their needs to achieve personal growth and cultivate fulfilling relationships. Through active listening we can address your unique needs using various therapeutic approaches depending on your challenges you may be struggling with. Safety and respect are the priority as we engage to invite change and develop helpful skills/tools/strategies.

I specialize in various therapeutic models including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), sex therapy and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). I incorporate solution focused, strength-based, trauma focused, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) approaches. In addition I am trained in the Gottman method levels 1&2 for couples therapy.

I use a non-judgmental, affirmative approach to therapy and draw inspiration from a variety of therapy-methods including narrative therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and emotionally-focused therapy. There is no one size fits all. "I'm not good enough." "I can't do it." "Everyone else has it all figured out".   "Ugh I feel like crap...maybe I'll just sleep through it". "I just want to skip this chapter of my life".

Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? If so, you're not alone. During my teen and young adults years, I often found myself wishing away the present, overwhelmed by the noise, anxiety, and uncertainty that come with life's biggest transitions. I was so focused on the future that I missed the moments unfolding right in front of me. It wasn't until I confronted those overwhelming feelings and thoughts, and began reshaping my relationship with them, that I started to experience the richness of life in the present moment.

As a therapist, I'm here to help you navigate that same journey. I aim to provide a safe, affirming, and non-judgemental space where you can unpack the overwhelm and uncertainty that comes with being human. I have a special focus supporting young women as they navigate societal pressures and life transitions with strength and resilience. Together, we'll develop a personalized toolbox of strategies to help you thrive in your daily life, whether you're facing the challenges of adolescence, navigating the complexities of young adulthood, struggling with the transition of parenthood or seeking to strengthen your relationships.

I take an eclectic approach to therapy and utilize tools and skills from cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), shame resilience, mindfulness based practices, and the neuroscience to best suit your unique needs. Together we will collaborate to help you feel empowered as you navigate all of life's messiness, beauty and everything in between.

Whether you're seeking one-on-one therapeutic support, looking to explore couples therapy or interested in family based therapy, I'm committed to helping you navigate your journey toward a more connected life that feels authentic and fulfilling to you.

We acknowledge the continued Impact of colonialism on Indigenous peoples and settler Canadians in Ontario, Canada and beyond.

We accept our complacencies as settler Canadians in further colonial ways of being, feeling and thinking. At ReLearning Human, we engage in anti-oppressive frameworks that focus on continued awareness, community building and anti-colonial practice. We view your health holistically and work to support you and ourselves in finding meaning and connection through culturally affirming practices.

Everything starts with awareness.
